Before Hitting Reply
I caught myself getting irritated by an email this week. Someone asked me to add information to a website… that was already there.
My first reaction was, well, not kind 😄 Fortunately, I didn’t respond immediately.
After a short cooling down period, I wondered if maybe I’d misunderstood what she wanted. Maybe she was looking for the information somewhere else, or wanted it added to another page.
I emailed back and let her know where it was and asked if she’d like it somewhere else as well. Turns out, she’d just forgotten it was already there. She thanked me, and we both moved on.
It was such a small exchange, but I’ve been thinking about how differently it might have gone if I’d sent that first response.
