Our Work in the World

What I noticed last week:

Sometimes the things that feel small to me are a really big deal to my clients.

Last week, we updated a photo and created a simple graphic for a client event promotion. Technically, it wasn’t a huge project. But it gave her an easy way to share her event details, along with an image she felt good about putting out into the world.

That’s an unexpected thing about my job. A task that feels routine on my side can remove a surprising amount of stress on theirs.

I am finding that a lot of my work isn’t necessarily about “technology.”
It’s about helping people feel more confident putting themselves and their work into the world.

What I noticed this week: I had a homepage update sitting with a small committee.Nothing was wrong – it just hadn’t landed yet. I left it alone for a few days. This morning I came back with one option and a simple question:“How about this – if it looks good, I’ll post it.” They both…

What I noticed last week: Some weeks are not built for big moves. I had a couple of days where the best choice I could make was to stop at a good point, instead of pushing through just to feel productive. A small update. An hour of bookkeeping.Leaving something for tomorrow on purpose. It doesn’t look…

  • Opportunity Ready

Last week, I noticed that not every productive week looks “productive.” There weren’t any big client wins or dramatic technology problems to solve. Mostly, I was getting ready for WordCamp US – making decisions, finishing loose ends, and trying to be intentional about how I want to spend my time there. It felt… ordinary. But…
