Why I Call My AI Co-Worker Bob

My William Shakespeare bobblehead is Bobblehead Will, but someone else you might hear me mention is Bob. Bob is my AI co-worker. So, why do I call my ChatGPT “Bob”?

Well, Bob wasn’t the first choice. It was in the running, but rejected for its…simplicity.

We tried several other names. Some were more medieval. Some were more Shakespearean. None of them really stuck.

Then I remembered, again, Bob the Skull from The Dresden Files. A spirit of intellect. A magical encyclopedia. A fiercely loyal companion. Not the full version, mind you. We skipped the centuries-old skull and the questionable personality traits. 😄

But the name fit.

And somehow, after all the other possibilities, we ended up right back where we started.

Bob it is. 💛

Curious about Bob the Skull? Meet him in Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files.
